Gingersnaps

  • GingerBread Capital Founder + CEO @linneaconradroberts got to hang out with some of our favorite people the other week when she attended the G9 Summer Summit in the Hamptons.

The annual event, hosted by @g9_ventures Partners @amygriffin and @annadoherty at Amy’s estate, brought together an illustrious group of 120 women founders and funders for a day of networking, gnoshing, candid panel conversations, and an expo featuring edible and wearable goods from female-led startups (and a popup bookstore featuring great reads from @reesesbookclub). @reesewitherspoon was a featured speaker at the day-long event, which also was attended by @Spanx Founder @sarablakely, @sprinklescupcakes Founder @candacenelson, makeup guru @bobbibrown, jewelry designer @sheryllowejewelry, Founder/CEO @joannastrober of @midihealth and many other amazing, innovative, visionary women. And look who Linnea met up with in Amy’s apple orchard!

  • Who better than US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo to bring together a group of all-male senior execs of some of America’s largest corporations to talk about the most vital issue determining the future competitiveness of our nation’s workforce: CHILD CARE! 👏🏾👏🏽👏🏻👏🏽
GBC Partner Ita Ekpoudom was in Washington DC on June 27th for the inaugural summit on Child Care Innovation, hosted by the US Department of Commerce and the US Chamber of Commerce. Leaders in government, business and nonprofits addressed topics such as the critical role of employers in child care, how to better support providers and caregivers, public-private partnerships, and investing in startups innovating child care solutions. The Governors of Colorado, Massachusetts and Indiana also discussed their states’ model reforms in child care and Pivotal Ventures Founder Melinda French Gates gave the afternoon keynote address (virtually) on how investment capital will catalyze entrepreneurial innovations that are moving affordable, universal child care closer to reality.
Ita also got to catch up with Commerce Dept Senior Advisor Liat Krawczyk, who helped organize this groundbreaking event. Brava!

  • GingerBread Capital Founder/CEO @linneaconradroberts was in Los Angeles on June 18th to give the keynote speech at the LA Area Chamber of Commerce about how women can build their wealth through investing, entrepreneurship and supporting other women.

The event was part of the Chamber’s Women in Leadership series that attracted a diverse audience of women professionals and entrepreneurs, and included an insightful, candid panel discussion with Linnea and some of our favorite experts in finance and venture capital: @sallie.krawcheck of @ellevest (a GBC portfolio co.) and @jessecdraper of @halogenvc. Moderated by GBC’s own Katherine Rice @katherinemillvalley, the discussion covered how women can become better investors, in themselves, in their careers and businesses, and in the market. It’s part of our “Know Your Worth Know Your Wealth” initiative to accelerate and expand the ecosystem of women founders and funders.

Many thanks to @msalinas_lachamberceo and the LA Chamber for inviting Linnea to address this vital topic and share her insights with this roomful of dynamic women! (And a special shout out to our portfolio company founders, Dr. @kathymagliato of Cordex Systems and @amichellerees of @agebold for being there!)
