Lynn Perkins started UrbanSitter in 2011. As the new mom of twins, Perkins, a graduate of Stanford University and former executive in hotel development, experienced firsthand the struggle of finding a trustworthy sitter—and connected with other moms who felt the same. Perkins’ mission is to empower parents as well as the caregivers they entrust by pairing sitters with flexible, well-paid work that empowers them with financial freedom and valuable professional skills. UrbanSitter currently has 150,000 caregivers in its database and operates in 60 cities.
