Hint, founded by entrepreneur Kara Goldin in 2005, produces America’s best-selling unsweetened flavored water, in three varieties: still, sparkling and lightly caffeinated. In 2017, the company expanded beyond the beverage industry with the launch of hint sunscreen, which is oxybenzone- and paraben-free and scented with Hint’s signature fruit essences.
Previously, Goldin spent 14 years in media sales including as VP of online commerce for America Online (now a part of Verizon Media). She launched Hint from her kitchen, as a way to kick her then-diet soda habit, lose weight and improve her health. Plain water, though, was boring, so she started adding fruit to it. And Hint was born. The company now boasts sales of $100 + million and plans to roll out more health-related products.
