The Kang sisters — Arum, Dawoon and Soo — launched Coffee Meets Bagel in 2012 to provide a high-quality experience for users, especially women, who are frustrated by other dating services that don’t give them enough control over the selection process. Their highly curated app-based dating service enables women to call the final shot on who gets to talk to them among guys who express interest.
Coffee Meets Bagel functions as a matchmaker of sorts: Each day, men using the service will receive up to 21 quality matches – known as “Bagels.” They are given the option to either “like” or “pass.” Then, Coffee Meets Bagel will curate the best potential matches for women among the men who have expressed interest in them. It’s then up to the women to choose who gets to talk to them.
To date, the service has generated more than one million dates and thousands of lasting relationships around the globe. The Coffee Meets Bagel app is free to download for iOS and Android.
